Permanent Collection
Galerie Buhler Gallery has a collection of 450 works of art acquired through the generosity of local donors. Most of the collection has been created by Manitoban artists and there is a wide range of traditional media included. The collection includes pieces created in the 1940s through to the present day.
An important part of the collection contains pieces from the mid-1960s through to the late 1980s, a distinct time in the history of artmaking in the province of Manitoba. Of particular interest is the collection of silk-screen prints made at The Grand Western Canadian Screen Shop, which includes works by Tony Tascona, Bill Lobchuk, Winston Leathers, Joe Fafard, Jackson Beardy, Len Anthony, Vic Cicansky, and many others.
We want to thank Heritage Manitoba and the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation for their invaluable support in conserving and acquiring art works.

The Staff and Volunteer Curated Wall
In the vestibule entrance of GBG you will see art works that have been selected from the Permanent Collection by hospital volunteers and staff. They have been given access to our art works and chosen ones that have resonated with them. Each person writes a short text about their choice. Art works change regularly throughout the year.
